MiG-31K loses X-47M2 pseudo-hypersonic missile in Russia, found by tractor driver

On August 11, 2023, Russia launched one of many missile strikes against Ukraine. However, not all launches were successful. A MiG-31K fighter jet loses an X-47M2 pseudo-hypersonic missile.

On that day, the X-47M2 missiles were sent to an airfield in Ivano-Frankivsk region. The Russian military reported a successful launch to their superiors, but one aeroballistic missile was lost on Russian territory.

Most interestingly, no one started looking for expensive weapons. She stayed in the Tula region for a month. On September 12, 2023, an X-47M2 missile sticking out of the ground was discovered by a local tractor driver near the village of Biryulivka.

Law enforcement officers and representatives of the Mashinostroitelstvo design bureau arrived at the scene. Based on the results of the analysis, it was decided to blow up the missile because it was impossible to deliver it to the plant and restore it.
