Minus “Yastreb”, Ukrainian military destroy another newest Russian radar in Donetsk region (video)

A video has been posted online showing how the Ukrainian military hit the newest Russian artillery reconnaissance system 1K148 Yastreb-AV for the first time.

It happened in May 2023 in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region.

The video of the enemy’s radar being hit was posted by the UAV instructor coordinator of the Come Back Alive Foundation, who is known as “External Pilot” on social media.

Judging by the footage, the Ukrainian Defense Forces used an American M142 HIMARS missile system to destroy the Russian complex.

The GMLRS missiles hit near the Yastreb-AV artillery reconnaissance complex and probably caused damage to it.

The “external pilot” said that the fire on the complex was adjusted with the help of a Shark reconnaissance drone of the 43rd separate artillery brigade, which was monitoring the movement of the Russians.

According to him, this was the first Shark UAV issued to the military as part of a joint project of the Come Back Alive Foundation and OKKO filling station chain called Eye for an Eye.

Observers who monitor the course of hostilities in the Russian-Ukrainian war have found that a Yastreb-AV counter-battery radar was detected and destroyed near the city of Yenakiyevo, which is temporarily under Russian occupation.

In January of this year, the military demonstrated the destruction of the Russian 1K148 Yastreb-AV artillery reconnaissance complex in Donetsk region. As a result of the use of HIMARS, the enemy’s counter-battery radar was disabled and caught fire.

Also, a Russian Yastreb-AV was shot down by the Ukrainian Defense Forces in Kherson region.

The Russian army began receiving the Yastreb-AV only recently, with tests completed only in late 2021 or early 2022.

It is stated that the radar system with phased array antennas is capable of automatically tracking the trajectory of shells fired by enemy artillery, determining the exact coordinates of positions. However, the exact characteristics are not disclosed. The 1K148 Yastreb-AV system is mounted on a four-axle chassis BAZ-6910-025. The rear part of the chassis is used for the placement of an antenna post with a large radar array.
