An increase in taxes on automotive gas is proposed by a ruling party deputy.
Danylo Hetmantsev, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction and chairman of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, believes that the excise tax on autogas should be increased. He expressed this opinion in an interview with Ukrainian News.
“As for reducing the difference between the excise tax on gasoline and liquefied gas. I believe that this idea has a basis. I believe that cars travel on the same roads, so it is unfair that drivers who use gasoline pay more for the repair of these roads than cars that run on gas,” the MP said.
According to him, the idea of increasing the excise tax on gas fuel is being discussed at the level of the Cabinet of Ministers.
“Indeed, the energy efficiency of gas is lower than that of gasoline by about 20-25%. Therefore, the excise tax should be recalculated. It should be lower, but not four times,” the head of the committee is convinced.
