MQ-9 Reaper drones eliminate ISIS leader despite opposition from Russian fighters

At the end of last week, the United States killed ISIS leader Osama al-Muhajir. This was officially announced by the Central Command of the US Armed Forces.

The CENTCOM statement says that the United States is committed to defeating ISIS in the region. According to General Michael Kurilla, ISIS is a threat both within the region and beyond.

Osama al-Muhajer was ousted on July 7, 2023. The MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles struck it. Eliminating the leader will impair ISIS’ ability to conduct terrorist attacks. No civilians were injured as a result of the special operation.

On the day Osama al-Muhajer was killed, Russian fighter jets pursued the MQ-9 Reaper for several hours. The planes tried to shoot down the American drones by dropping bombs and turning on afterburners near them.
