MQ-9 Reaper has learned to land anywhere in the world (video)
The MQ-9 Reaper operator managed to land the drone on a dirt runway. This means that the drone has increased operational capabilities and the potential to participate in combat operations. The US military can land it anywhere in the world.
According to Brian Flanigan, who serves as the director of operations, landing a drone on the ground is a significant achievement for the US Air Force. The aircraft is no longer tied to airfields.
The lieutenant colonel added that the new capabilities of the MQ-9 Reaper will play a leading role in future wars, where increased survivability, distributed operations and smaller footprint will be a huge advantage for the US Army.
