Billionaire Elon Musk continues to massively lay off employees of the social network he acquired, Twitter. This is reported by Mashable.
As the publication learned, Twitter announced the dismissal of thousands of contractors. At the same time, no warnings were given to those affected by the reduction. Contractors were simply denied access to Slack and email. In total, Twitter laid off approximately 4,400 of its 5,500 contractors.
The interlocutors of the publication note that the moral atmosphere in the company is “simply terrible” now.
Musk previously fired about half of Twitter’s employees via email, which left the company facing a class-action lawsuit.
Musk’s tenure at Twitter has been characterized by dysfunction, rushed ideas and firings. And while layoffs are never fun or desirable, they have been particularly difficult for Twitter employees. The company laid off about half of its full-time employees, then reportedly asked some to return because things had gone so badly without them. The entire process was carried out with the help of depersonalized automated emails. This affected many people very badly, which resulted in huge criticism of Musk.
