Mykolaiv region: Commander unreasonably accrued UAH 5.5 million in payments to servicemen who were not on duty – SBI

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine have served a notice of suspicion to the commander of a military unit in Mykolaiv region. He is accused of unreasonably charging payments to subordinates who did not report for duty for a long time.

According to the latest reports, the official stopped payments to military personnel who left the military unit without permission and did not return to service within three days. Nevertheless, he continued to pay their salaries even though they had been absent from service for three months. This resulted in losses to the state budget of UAH 5.4 million.

The reimbursement of budget funds has now begun. The official was notified of suspicion of negligence in office. This article provides for possible imprisonment for up to eight years.
