NASA has released an enhanced, detailed interactive Eyes on the Solar System with the ability to rewind time and watch the motion of the planets in real time.
An updated version of NASA’s 3D map of the Solar System is now available on Eyes on the Solar System.
Specialists have been developing this update for over two years. The enhanced version has increased detail and simplified navigation.
The site shows how space missions are progressing. There was also an opportunity to “look into the future” – the trajectory of movement in the Solar System is calculated until 2049.
On the 3D map, you can see in detail all the planets of our system and some space objects, such as asteroids, comets, natural and artificial satellites and other technical devices. Through time rewind, users can see where space objects will be in the future, or where they have been in the past.
‘In the updated version of the 3D map, you can track the path of the Voyager probe since 1977 and see how the spacecraft approached Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune,’ the message says.
The map is free and accessible in a browser from a computer or phone.
