NATO fighter jets again raised in Poland during Russian strikes on Ukraine

On March 29, Poland responded to Russia’s air attack on Ukraine. In particular, five hours after the attack began, the command of the Armed Forces ordered the air force to be raised. The Polish Armed Forces Operational Command reported on the situation that arose in connection with another shelling by the Russian Armed Forces on Twitter.

The reaction to Russia’s strike on Ukraine appeared at 4:59. It was pointed out that the threat had increased as a result of a Russian missile and drone attack. That is why the Operational Command decided to take Polish and allied aircraft into the air. In this regard, we apologize to the public because there will be some loud sounds. According to the report, it should be especially loud in the southeast of the country.

“All the necessary procedures have been initiated to ensure the safety of Polish airspace, and the military is constantly monitoring the situation,” the command reported.

The next message from the Polish Armed Forces’ JC appeared at 8:19 a.m. They emphasized that the Russian threat has diminished, so military aviation has returned to normal operation. They also explained that they would continue to monitor the situation in Ukraine in order to protect Poles if necessary.

“It was another night of high alert of Polish and allied systems and intensive service of the Armed Forces soldiers who constantly monitor the situation in Ukraine and remain in constant readiness to ensure the safety of Polish airspace,” the Operational Command emphasized.

It is worth noting that when the aircraft were launched in Poland, the Russian missile and drone attack in Ukraine lasted more than six hours, according to the data of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At 5:00, the moment the Poles reacted, the Russians were attacking the western regions of Ukraine – Lviv, Volyn, Ternopil, Rivne, etc.

The shelling on March 29 – what is known

It should be noted that the air attack by the Russian Armed Forces on the night of March 29 lasted about nine hours in a row. The Russian attack was launched by Shahed-136 kamikaze drones: they entered Ukrainian territory from the northeast and south. Later, it became known that the Tu-95MS aircraft were ready to be launched. After that, it became known about a series of explosions that took place in different regions of Ukraine: Kyiv, Cherkasy, Dnipro and a number of other central and western regions.

On the morning of March 29, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that the Russians had launched 99 air strikes at Ukrainians. They managed to shoot down almost all kamikaze drones and X-101/X-555 missiles. We failed to neutralize the ballistic missiles used by the enemy.

Previously, Russian missiles have already flown into Poland. During the attack on March 24, the X-101 stayed in Polish airspace for 39 seconds, but was never shot down. After that, the Polish Foreign Ministry tried to protest to the Russian ambassador, but he simply did not appear for an explanation.
