NATO is ready to transfer air defense equipment to the east after the fall of a missile in Poland, — Stoltenberg

The alliance is monitoring the situation and, if necessary, can strengthen air defense in Poland with the help of ground, air and sea systems, Secretary General Stoltenberg said.

If necessary, NATO can transfer additional air defense forces (ADF) to the east, in particular to Poland. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a briefing following the Alliance meeting on Wednesday, November 16.

According to the Secretary General of the Alliance, during the meeting, the representatives of the member states expressed their support for Poland after a missile fell on its territory, as a result of which two people died. At the same time, Stoltenberg noted that during the NATO summit in June of this year, the allies agreed to expand the presence in the eastern part of the Alliance.

The NATO Secretary General noted that, according to preliminary data, the missile that fell in Poland was a projectile of the Ukrainian air defense system, but this does not mean that Ukraine is to blame for the incident, since the event took place at the moment when Kyiv was defending itself from a massive missile attack from side of the Russian Federation At the same time, Stoltenberg emphasized that the incident had no signs of a deliberate attack by the Russian Federation on NATO territory.

Responding to a relevant question from journalists, Stoltenberg noted that NATO is ready, if necessary, to strengthen air defense on the eastern flank, in particular in Poland, with the help of ground, air and sea-based systems.

Stoltenberg also assured that supplying Ukraine with air defense systems is a priority for the organization.

We will remind, according to the media, US President Joe Biden said that on Tuesday, November 15, a missile of Ukrainian air defense forces fell in the Polish city of Przewodow. For its part, the Office of the President of Ukraine emphasized that ‘only the Russian side is responsible for the rapidly growing risks to the border countries’, as it has unleashed a full-scale war and is launching massive missile strikes on Ukrainian territory.

We previously wrote that on November 15, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a massive missile attack on the territory of Ukraine, damaging residential buildings and infrastructure facilities.
