New DIU special operation “Barynya”: Russian military and 11 more occupants recruited (video)
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine conducted a successful special operation called “Barynya” to recruit a Russian serviceman. This was stated by the representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Andriy Yusov at a press conference with the participation of Russian military officer Danil Alferov.
The “I Want to Live” project of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War noted that Alfyorov helped 11 of his fellow soldiers surrender as part of a special operation by the GUR.
Alfyorov said that a week and a half after he signed the contract with the Russian Defense Ministry, he was contacted by representatives of Ukraine and offered cooperation. He agreed and helped Ukraine collect information on the movement of Russian troops.
Subsequently, the Ukrainian side offered Alfyorov to send Russian soldiers who agreed to surrender voluntarily under the “I want to live” program. Alfyorov managed to take out three groups of occupants totaling 11 people. After that, Ukrainian forces helped Alfyorov himself to get out of the Russian positions.
According to Yusov, the GRU was assisted by special forces in defecting to the Ukrainian side.
He added that a number of similar DIU special operations are in the works.
On August 23, the GUR reported that it had lured out a Russian Mi-8 military helicopter and landed at a Ukrainian airfield. The helicopter landed in the Kharkiv region.
