New electronic registry “Oberig” to replace “Diia” for men liable for military service

The electronic register of persons liable for military service called “Oberig” is already functioning and regularly receives new data. This information was shared by Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

“Oberig will contain detailed information about those liable for military service, including details about their parents. Among other things:

  • Basic and contact information of recruits;
  • Family, education, and passport information;
  • Information on work, traveling abroad and returning;
  • Records of criminal convictions and administrative offenses. Each user will also have access to an electronic account, which will contain an electronic military ID card and a record book.

With the introduction of the electronic military card, access to many public services will be simplified for men. The Verkhovna Rada notes that soon most of these services will be available only to men who are registered with the military, despite the Constitution of Ukraine and basic human rights.

In addition, many Ukrainian media outlets report that there is an initiative to block bank accounts and cards for men who are not registered for military service or have not received a military ID. Unfortunately, as lawyers and activists predict, this method of “motivation” will lead to a significant outflow of money from the banking system and will lead to even more corruption. There is also a high probability that such centralized data may fall into the wrong hands.

According to Fedir Venislavsky, a Servant MP, the time is approaching when men who “evade” service will need public services. He also believes that it is necessary to revise the information strategy regarding mobilization, drawing attention to the ongoing threat from Russia. Venislavsky calls on men to respond to calls from military enlistment offices to replace soldiers who have been in service for more than a year and a half.

Unfortunately, the current government is unwilling to eliminate the main reason for the low motivation of the Ukrainian population to visit the MTC – total corruption, regular beatings and the absence of any objective health assessment during the so-called VLC, which is also complained about by the military themselves.
