New missiles for HIMARS are capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 650 km

While the Armed Forces are waiting for the allies to hand over ATACMS missiles, the US is developing a more powerful projectile for the M142 HIMARS complex. The ammunition is called Precision Strike Missile.

In an interview with Naval News, a representative of Lockheed Martin talked about the new development. According to him, PrSM missiles will replace ATACMS. Their production will be cheaper. At the same time, new products will be more effective in terms of effectiveness. With the help of PrSM missiles, the American army will be able to hit targets at a distance of 650 km.

A representative of Lockheed Martin emphasized that the PrSM missile has a multi-mode homing head. Thanks to this, it can be used to strike land and sea targets. The company’s management is considering the possibility of starting the development of the HIMARS robotic complex, which will not require drivers and operators. It will be able to hit targets in drone mode.

The Ukrainian army lacks long-range weapons. The Pentagon’s delivery of 100 ATACMS units will lead to dramatic changes on the battlefield. The Armed Forces will have the opportunity to hit objects of critical importance to the occupying forces in any part of Ukraine, in particular in Crimea.
