New weapons for Ukraine: Italy sends second battery of SAMP/T air defense systems
The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive the second battery of the SAMP/T anti-aircraft missile system.
The information was shared by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy. This is a system that is currently deployed in Kuwait but will soon return to Italy. Unfortunately, there is no timetable for the delivery of the SAMs.
SAMP/T (Surface-to-Air Missile Platform/Terrain) is a modern medium-range anti-aircraft missile system developed by the European consortium Eurosam, which includes MBDA and Thales. The system is designed to protect critical facilities and troops from a wide range of air threats, including aircraft, drones and ballistic missiles.
The main weapon of SAMP/T is Aster 30 missiles, which have high maneuverability and a range of up to 100 kilometers. The system includes a multifunctional Arabel radar capable of simultaneously tracking multiple targets and guiding missiles. SAMP/T is highly mobile, allowing for rapid deployment in a variety of environments, providing reliable and flexible air defense.
