Occupant killed NOVUS security guard in Bucha – Prosecutor General’s Office notifies him of suspicion

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has served a notice of suspicion to a Russian serviceman who is a senior gunner of the 1st self-propelled artillery battery of the 76th Air Assault Division. The occupier shot a security guard at the Novus supermarket in Bucha.

On February 27, 2022, during the movement of a Russian military convoy in the city of Bucha, a senior Russian military officer issued an order via radio to identify all persons wearing black clothes as potential enemies. This order violated the principle of distinction, as many civilians could have been wearing black clothing.

The order could have led to accidental civilian casualties and injuries.

In the town of Bucha, the occupiers noticed a local resident who worked as a security guard at the NOVUS supermarket and was wearing black clothes with the insignia “NOVUS Security”. Despite the fact that the man was not armed and did not pose a threat to the occupiers, they shot him anyway.

Between February 24, 2022, and June 4, 2023, at least 80,000 criminal cases related to war crimes committed by the Russian military were opened in Ukraine. Of these, 68,000 relate to violations of the laws and customs of war.
