Oncilla APC on the battlefield in Ukraine: footage from the front, how the vehicles are repaired and what is the advantage of production

Today, mass production of Oncilla armored personnel carriers, which are used by Ukrainian defenders on the battlefield, has been launched

Oncilla armored personnel carriers are being actively used by the Ukrainian Defense Forces along the entire front line. Defense Express has obtained footage of one of the vehicles that was hit by an anti-tank mine on the battlefield: despite the fact that the armored personnel carrier itself was damaged, the crew remained alive and combat-ready.

“The Oncilla armored personnel carrier is designed exclusively as a military combat vehicle with a triple safety margin. In addition to the monocoque hull, the vehicle has increased cross-country ability on difficult terrain, off-road, etc., a low “silhouette” and reduced visibility by thermal imaging devices,” said a representative of Beryl Design Bureau, a technology partner of the Polish company Mista.

According to the Ukrainian company, mass production of this armored personnel carrier has been launched and production volumes have been increased to meet the needs of the battlefield. The company also reportedly has established cooperation with Ukrainian producers.

Production of machines at a plant in Poland

“The most important thing is that production does not depend on a particular chassis manufacturer, which can play a cruel joke on us and simply block production. In the production of the Oncilla APC, the manufacturer diversifies suppliers of components and assemblies along the “main – spare – backup” link, which allows us to be flexible and switch to auxiliary logistics chains without compromising the technical characteristics of the final product,” the Beryl Design Bureau notes.

They also emphasize that effective and fast repair of vehicles damaged on the battlefield has been established: “The timeframe for overhaul depends on the nature of the combat damage, but within a month the vehicle is already back at the front.”

The Oncilla armored personnel carriers are repaired by Beryl Design Bureau’s field teams, if necessary, even at the front line. The overhaul process has also been automated: the damaged APC is delivered to the Mista plant in Poland as soon as possible, where all the necessary spare parts, components and assemblies for the overhaul have already been accumulated.

The Oncilla 4×4 armored personnel carrier is a licensed version of the Ukrainian Dozor-B armored combat vehicle manufactured in Poland at the facilities of the Polish company Mista.
