Opel will create a line of charged electric cars under the GSe brand
GSe now stands for Grand Sport Electric.
Opel previously produced charged cars under the GSe sub-brand. These were perfectly equipped, sports cars. Now the German brand Opel is reviving the cult sports sub-brand GSe in a new interpretation. Cars with this nameplate will remain dynamic and sporty, but will be 100% electric.
The historical abbreviation ‘Grand Sport Einspritzung’ (Grand Sport Injection), which is known for the Commodore GS/E and Monza GSE, has been reinterpreted in accordance with the new strategy of the Brand, from now on the GSe will symbolize ‘Grand Sport electric’.
The Opel brand has a clear plan to go fully electric in Europe by 2028, offering an electrified version for every model. That is why the return and revival of the GSe sub-brand took place right now.
The brand draws inspiration from its rich heritage, so GSe customers get a bold and futuristic design inspired by past generations of cars, chassis tuning with German precision, an excellent balance of sportiness with a high level of comfort. Like all Opel models, the GSe line will undergo numerous tests on German highways, so that you feel like the ‘kings of the Autobahn’. The GSe models will combine sporty character with driving pleasure – all with zero CO2 emissions.
Opel recently introduced the Manta GSe, a modern version of the legendary Manta from 1970. Straight clear lines of car design half a century ago were considered simple and sculptural. But it was these lines that inspired the new design philosophy of Opel today. It was the Manta A that recently became the source of inspiration for the design of the brand’s new face – the Opel Vizor, which organically combines the radiator grille, lighting system and Blitz emblem into a single module.
According to Opel’s plans, every car in the model range will have an electrified version by 2024. And already today we see significant progress towards achieving this goal, because already now the customer has a choice between 12 electrified models, from hybrids such as the Grandland and Astra to fully electric cars, be it the city crossover Mokka-e or the family minivan Zafira-e Life . As well as the commercial van Combo-e Cargo and the multifunctional Movano-e.
But only the most dynamic and powerful models will be able to get the iconic GSe logo.
The 100% electric version of the OPEL Mokka-e is already on the Ukrainian market.
