OpenAI has signed an agreement with Axel Springer to provide news content for ChatGPT

OpenAI and global news publisher Axel Springer have signed an agreement that will allow ChatGPT to summarize news stories from publications such as Politico and Business Insider.

The agreement provides for the provision of political and business media articles to Axel Springer as data for training AI language models by OpenAI. In particular, the content will be used to improve GPT-4, which is the basis of ChatGPT.

When answering questions, ChatGPT will be able to create short summaries of Axel Springer materials with links to the original articles. This will expand the chatbot’s awareness of current events and news in politics and business.

Earlier this year, OpenAI signed a similar license agreement with the Associated Press to use the news agency’s archives to train AI models. The new agreement with Axel Springer is the next step in this direction.
