Poland has technical capability to close skies over western Ukraine, but political will is needed – Ukrainian Air Force

According to Ilya Yevlash, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force Command, Poland has the technical ability to close the skies over the western regions of Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems. However, this step requires the political will of both countries.

This was reported by Espresso.

This possibility has been discussed at the level of senior military leadership and diplomatic circles, which should agree on such measures. Ilya Yevlash emphasized the importance of such a decision for the Ukrainian Air Force, as it would free up resources and facilities in the west of the country to be used in other regions, especially to combat tactical aircraft, guided and cruise missiles.

“Of course, this would make life easier for our Air Force, as we could use our resources more efficiently to defend our country,” Yevlash said.

This issue remains relevant against the backdrop of ongoing military threats from Russia, which continues its military actions against Ukraine.
