Polish combat drone HAASTA is capable of overcoming enemy air defense and can operate as part of a swarm

The Warsaw Aerospace Institute designed and developed the HAASTA unmanned aerial system, taking into account the needs of combat operations.

The HAASTA design was developed jointly with Eurotech and is based on the experience of combat operations over the past few years. The drone is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system, which is used (depending on the version) for surveillance, cargo transportation, photography, and long-range reconnaissance.

For the army, it is useful because it can operate as a reconnaissance UAV and as a kamikaze drone, and it can also be a drone that distracts enemy air defense.

The developers claim that HAASTA is able to work as part of a swarm, transmitting data to other UAVs or receiving operator information. As a combat vehicle, the UAV is designed to overcome enemy air defense, operate deep in enemy groups, and perform reconnaissance and sabotage missions.

Eurotech has made the drone modular. The drone can be equipped with radar and optical sensors for homing if it is to be used as a kamikaze drone. The unique drone control system allows the operator to control up to 10 HAASTA drones simultaneously.

Technical characteristics of HAASTA:

  • Wingspan – 3.89 m;
  • The length of the hull is 2.93 m;
  • body height – 0.95 m;
  • the engine is a 20-liter hybrid.
  • maximum speed – 280 km/h;
  • maximum altitude – 7000 m;
  • flight time – 5 hours;
  • communication range – from 30 to 150 km (depending on the transmitter).
