Polish company Dictador appoints a robot as director (video)
The creepy and strange-looking humanoid robot Mika is headed by the Polish company Dictador. The firm announced that the robot is now their experimental CEO.
The robot was created by Hanson Robotics, the company behind the famous humanoid Sophia, and was proclaimed the first CEO of the global company. Sophia, in turn, promised to destroy humanity and became one of the first robots to receive a passport of a citizen of the country. She also told us who should pay on the first date.
“I don’t really have days off – I’m always on 24/7, ready to make executive decisions and work the magic of artificial intelligence,” the robot told Reuters.
But while the rum company Dictador sees its robot as key to its future success, others are not yet so sure that the technology is ready for the best use.
Fox Business journalist Lauren Simonetti recently interviewed Mika and found that there was a “significant delay” in the time it took for the robot to actually respond.
Simonetti also took to the streets, asking New Yorkers what they thought of the robot CEO. While one person said they would be sympathetic, another argued that “robots don’t need respect” because they are “just machines.”
However, if machine learning systems continue to become more powerful, using them instead of human managers may not be a far-fetched idea.
For example, a survey conducted earlier this year by The Hustle found that 40 percent of all respondents said it makes sense to replace CEOs with artificial intelligence.
