Power units of all nuclear power plants controlled by Ukraine are connected to the network again – ‘Energoatom’

Energoatom reported that all 9 power units of the three operating NPPs controlled by Ukraine (South Ukrainian, Rivne, and Khmelnytsky) are connected to the country’s power system. This is stated in the company’s message.

‘Today, December 13, 2022, at 01:09, the last ‘thousandth’ power unit of ‘Energoatom’ (with a capacity of 1,000 MW) was connected to the power grid, and capacity is being added. The difficult repairs to eliminate the damage received as a result of the shelling of the energy system of Ukraine on November 23, 2022, have been completed,’ said Energoatom NAEC.

The company does not specify which power unit was connected.

In addition, it is clarified that all six power units of the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP are stopped and that this plant consumes 100 MW of power from the energy system of Ukraine to meet its own needs.

We will remind you that on November 23, the enemy launched another massive missile attack on Ukraine. As a result, in particular, the Rivne, South Ukrainian and Khmelnytsky NPPs were disconnected from the energy system of Ukraine due to tripping of emergency protection. The ZNPP (controlled by the occupying country) also went into full blackout mode. The complete disconnection of all nuclear power plants from the power system occurred for the first time in the history of Ukraine. Subsequently, NPP power units were gradually re-connected to the energy system.
