President’s representative: Women’s travel from Ukraine will be restricted from October 1
Women with medical or pharmaceutical education must register for military service from October 1, 2023. They acquire the status of persons liable for military service, for whom travel abroad is restricted.
This was stated by a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, the president’s representative in parliament, Fedir Venislavsky, in a commentary to RBC-Ukraine.
He reminded that last year the Rada had amended Article 1 of the Law “On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization.” The document stipulated that women with medical or pharmaceutical education had to register for compulsory military service.
Venislavsky says that to implement this law, the Cabinet of Ministers issued a resolution on the procedure for military registration, and the Ministry of Defense issued an order on military registration of women.
It is in accordance with the order of the Defense Ministry that women with medical or pharmaceutical education are supposed to register for military service from October 1.
“If they are registered, they acquire the status of persons liable for military service. And persons liable for military service can travel abroad in accordance with the procedure established for persons liable for military service,” the MP explained.
They say that if conscripts have separate documents that give them the right to leave temporarily, they will be able to leave. If there are none, then they, like men, will be restricted in their right to leave, Venislavsky noted.
The deputy also added that all other women who have military-registered specialties related to military affairs can register voluntarily from the same date. Currently, there are no plans to expand the list of specialties for women for mandatory registration.
