Military expert, former commander of the US Ground Forces on the European continent, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, emphasized that the loss of trust between the General Staff of the Russian Federation and Putin could cause an explosion. He said this on the air of the “Espresso” TV channel.
“Surovikin is the new commander of the Russian occupation forces and has a reputation for being brutal and corrupt. Will anyone be surprised that the Kremlin will choose a corrupt criminal and murderer as the new commander?! This was predicted. Especially since he is also very loyal, and it’s now the most important quality to appoint because Putin is worried that his generals don’t support him the way they used to,” Hodges noted.
The military expert also added that it does not matter who becomes the new commander in the Russian Federation. The problems of the Russian troops are so deep, so systemic, that the new commander is not able to correct the state of affairs in a few weeks or months.
“The corruption, the lack of coordination between the air force, the ground forces and the navy, the failed logistics system. All this is so terrible that no matter who becomes the commander, he will not be able to overcome it. So what is the difference of the new commander? I think he will continue one or the other type of brutal tactics and the sooner they are defeated, the better,” Hodges emphasized.
