The joint venture of Sony Group Corp and Honda Motor called Sony Honda Mobility Inc, formed in June of this year, revealed details about its firstborn – a high-tech electric car.

Orders for it will open in 2025, and full sales will begin in 2026, including via the Internet. In the joint venture, it is characterized as a smartphone on wheels. Honda in the project is responsible for the ‘car’ part, including the platform, and Sony will provide the electric car and electronic systems.

Sony Honda Mobility Inc intends to generate income from car users on a monthly basis: it will offer a paid subscription for a wide range of services, including entertainment. Software, on-board controllers and access to the cloud service will be provided by Sony.

Sensors for the third-level autonomous driving system are also in the area of ​​responsibility of the techno giant. It allows you to keep your eyes on the road while driving on the highway, but the driver must be ready to return to driving at any time.

Honda will decide which architecture will form the basis of the electric car, as well as choose the suppliers of the traction battery and elements of the power plant. The car from Sony and Honda will likely be produced at one of the Japanese brand’s factories in Ohio, USA. Sales will start from the United States and Japan in 2026, and later the electric car may reach Europe — it is reported that both companies are considering such an option.

Last week, Honda revealed the Prologue electric crossover with General Motors stuffing. The model got two-tone 21-inch wheels with six petals and a laconic interior with a separate 11-inch ‘device’ screen. The technical characteristics have not yet been revealed, but it is known that the all-wheel drive modification of the new products will definitely be available.
