Rada proposes to take personal cars for the army from owners of three or more
The cars will be seized for the needs of the Defense Forces primarily from those citizens who own two or more vehicles of the same category. This is stated in the new draft law on mobilization.
The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security has decided on certain blocks of the draft law 10449 on strengthening mobilization. In particular, we are talking about mobilizing vehicles. These can be cars, trucks, passenger cars, and special equipment, as well as boats, boats, and other watercraft.
According to the Judicial and Legal Newspaper, the position supported by the Committee on the performance of military transport duty by citizens and the provision of cars has already become known.
According to MP Vladlen Neklyudov, one of the amendments “proposes to extend military transport duty to citizens who own two or more vehicles of the same category.”
According to the MPs, the application of this approach to military transport duty will “protect the interests of those citizens who own only one vehicle of the same category, which is necessary for the family, for the work of citizens whose earnings are inextricably linked to the availability of a car, etc.”
The volume of vehicles by type and brand to be mobilized is set in accordance with the Mobilization Plan of Ukraine by local state administrations upon submission of territorial recruitment and social support centers.
The mobilization of vehicles is carried out by the TCC, the SSU Central Directorate or regional bodies, and the relevant units of the intelligence agencies of Ukraine.
Vehicles are returned to the owner within 30 calendar days from the date of demobilization.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine submits to the TCC information on registered vehicles that may be intended for manning the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Interestingly, it will be difficult to get rid of the cars if there are more than two of them: since the announcement of general mobilization, vehicles intended for manning the Armed Forces of Ukraine are prohibited from being sent to other regions or outside the territory of Ukraine, transferring ownership of them to legal entities or citizens, renting (leasing), providing them as collateral for fulfilling obligations under loan and guarantee agreements to a banking institution, as well as performing other actions that make it impossible to transfer such vehicles.
