Radio based on artificial intelligence to be launched in Germany
Germany is planning to launch a new radio based on artificial intelligence (AI) this summer.
Moderation, music charts, news, weather forecasts – all this will be done by a computer, not a human. AI programs will search for stories and analyze content on social media – doing the work that journalists do.
The first radio with artificial intelligence in Germany
This is a pilot project of the Audiotainment Südwest radio station in cooperation with the American company Futuri Media.
Audiotainment Südwest is a private radio station. Its audience is more than five million listeners every day. The monthly coverage of the station is almost 12 million online listens. The broadcaster covers Berlin, Hamburg, Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, some regions of Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia.
This year, Futuri Media has already launched the world’s first artificial intelligence radio station, Radio GPT, in the United States. For this purpose, the company has developed special software that allows it to replace the specialists working on content creation.
Critics of artificial intelligence on radio stations
According to Futuri Media representatives, the biggest challenge for an AI-powered radio station is to have a voice that is pleasant to the ear and not devoid of emotion.
The creators of innovative radio also have to study the ethics of using such programs to produce information content.
Critics of the technologies used by Radio GPT note that the danger of AI in the work of the radio station is the spread of misinformation and the use of an aggressive tone that is often modeled by artificial intelligence programs.
We would like to remind you that Germany already has a radio station that partially uses artificial intelligence in broadcasting on the island of Helgoland.
