“Railway cotton” in Russia: SBU blows up another train in Buryatia – media

The Security Service of Ukraine has organized a new explosion on an important strategic railroad in Russia. Another train was blown up in Buryatia.

RBC-Ukraine writes about this, citing its own sources.

The publication’s interlocutors note that the Russians have twice fallen into the SBU’s trap – another train with fuel exploded on the Baikal-Amur railway line.

According to our sources, this explosion was the second stage of the SBU’s special operation to disable this important railroad. Russians use it, among other things, for military logistics.

For example, the first freight train exploded directly in the Severomaiskyi tunnel. To continue their movement, the Russians began to use a bypass route through the “Devil’s Bridge”.

“This is exactly what the SBU was counting on: when the train was passing over this high 35-meter bridge, the explosive devices planted in it were detonated,” the sources said.

According to Russian Telegram channels, the explosion set 6 tanks on fire. Even a fire train came to extinguish the fire.

What is known about the Devil’s Bridge, where the second explosion took place

The Devil’s Bridge is a semicircular viaduct on the Northern Bypass of the Baikal-Amur Mainline. It was built in 1986, but regular train traffic began in 1989. It passes over the Itykit River. The height reaches 35 meters.

It is built on distinctive two-tiered piers and is the only bridge of this design in Russia. According to open sources, the bridge sways slightly when heavy trains pass over it (since 2002, such trains have not been running over the bridge, only work trains, and most traffic goes through the Northern Tunnel). Therefore, it is “notorious among drivers” who are afraid to drive over the bridge.

The first explosion on a railroad in Buryatia

As a reminder, yesterday the media reported an explosion on the Baikal-Amur Mainline, which is located in Buryatia. It was a successful SBU operation that paralyzed the only serious railroad connection between Russia and China. It is used, in particular, for military supplies.

It was about the explosion in the Severnyy tunnel. According to the sources cited by the media, four explosive devices were detonated in the tunnel while the freight train was moving. Initially, the Russian authorities said that a fire had allegedly started in the tunnel due to a “short circuit in the cable network.”

Later, the Russians began to claim that the explosion was allegedly caused by “sabotage.” A criminal case was opened in Russia under the article “terrorist act”.
