Range up to 2000 km: UAV torpedoes are being developed in Ukraine (photo)
Three versions of unmanned torpedoes are known to be in development, capable of carrying 20 to 5,000 kilograms of explosives.
Ukraine’s defense industry is working on several versions of UAV torpedoes. One of the drone prototypes was presented at the Brave1 exhibition, the Militarny portal reported on April 26.
The device is reported to be able to recognize the jamming zone and stay in standby mode for up to three months.
Thanks to the automatic scanning function using a 3D sonar, hydrophone and camera, the UAV torpedoes can make mine maps for sappers.
The guidance system uses GPS, and in the absence of GPS (underwater) or when the signal is jammed, it works using an inertial navigation system. Targets are identified using video cameras, thermal imaging cameras, and visually using a neural network.
In total, three versions of unmanned torpedoes are being developed:
As reported by Forbes on April 26, Ukraine produces hundreds of deadly and cheap unmanned aerial vehicles, but this is not enough. According to the estimates of Oleksandr Kvyatkovsky, a board member of the Aerorazvedka NGO, manufacturers cover only 20% of the total needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier, on April 25, we also wrote that the Ukrainian company Skylab from Kharkiv presented a ground robot Sirko-S, which can perform various tasks for the military: conduct reconnaissance, deliver cargo, provide communication between units, and evacuate the wounded.
