On January 31, Rocket Lab launched four satellites into orbit as part of the Four of a Kind mission, Space reports.
The Electron rocket launched from the Rocket Lab in New Zealand at 08:34 Kyiv time, launching four space surveillance satellites (SSA) for NorthStar Earth & Space.
The Low Earth Multi-Role Receiver (LEMUR) satellites were put into orbit about 52 minutes after launch.
The mission is successfully completed! All four satellites were delivered to their target orbits. Greetings and welcome to space – Rocket Lab
The satellites will monitor all Earth orbits, providing an enhanced level of SSA services for the global satellite community.
In addition, LEMUR will provide “timely and accurate information for space object detection, tracking, orbit determination, collision avoidance, navigation, and proximity warning.”
The Four of a Kind mission was Rocket Lab’s first launch in 2024.
