It is noted that Russia launched an air strike on Ukraine at night with three X-22 cruise missiles and an X-31P anti-radar missile. The enemy also used an S-300 anti-aircraft guided missile in Donetsk region and 28 Shahed-136/131 attack drones.

“Anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force, mobile fire groups and electronic warfare equipment of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved in repelling the attack,” the Air Force wrote.

In total, Ukrainian air defense destroyed 26 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs in Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Natalia Gumenyuk, head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, told Espresso that Tu-22 aircraft usually carry X-22 missiles.

“They are quite old, but they are still supersonic and difficult for air defense forces to respond to. Obviously, the enemy tried to hit somewhere in the south of Odesa region, the missiles were aimed at Zmiinyi Island and the south of the region, but the goal was not achieved,” said Humeniuk.
