Russian Armed Forces attack Nikopol with a night vision kamikaze drone for the first time (photo)
A Russian drone broke through the roof of a private house in Nikopol, which is located 6 km from enemy positions on the opposite bank of the Dnipro River. The authorities have not yet specified which model of UAV the enemy used.
On the night of January 10, the Russian Armed Forces launched a kamikaze drone equipped with a night vision device at Nikopol in Dnipropetrovs’k region. The device exploded, damaging private houses. In addition, settlements near Marhanets were affected by the Russian strike. Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovs’k Regional Military Administration, reported the details of the night shelling by Russian forces in his Telegram channel.
Lysak said that the Russians attacked Nikopol with a kamikaze drone. Only civilian objects were affected by the shelling. The official listed the damage caused by the Russians: “two private houses, an outbuilding and a power line were damaged.” The enemy launched shells from heavy artillery at Marhanets ATC. No one was injured after the Russian strike, Lysak wrote.
The post by the head of the military administration of Dnipropetrovs’k region did not specify the type of UAV used by the Russians in Nikopol. More detailed information was provided by Mayor Yevhen Yevtushenko. According to him, a kamikaze drone equipped with night vision struck the city. The official noted that it was the first time the enemy used this type of weapon to shell a rear city. Previously, all such cases were used on the front line, Yevtushenko said in a statement. He did not specify which model of UAV was launched by the Russians.
Authorities published two photos from the site of the Russian strike, allegedly in Nikopol. The shot shows the broken roof of the house and damaged window frames.
It is noted that the Telegram channel of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported a threat to the Dnipro region on the evening of January 9, which was about the possibility of an air strike at 18:30. However, the portal with air alerts shows that in Nikopol, the alert lasted nine hours (from 21:43 on January 9 to 06:07 on January 10). Meanwhile, in Marhanets community, the alarm was announced at 21:51 on January 9 and has not been canceled.
