Russian Lancets may be replaced by cheaper Scalpel UAVs

Russia has developed the Scalpel barrage munition. The new product is being promoted by the developers as a cheaper alternative to the Lancet UAV. According to the Russian media, the design bureau has already received orders for Scalpels from several units.

The length of the Scalpel payload compartment is 650 mm. It has a diameter of 125 mm. The drone can be equipped with various payloads weighing up to 5 g. The takeoff weight of the drone is 10.5 kg. It can accelerate to 120 km/h. The Scalpel is capable of moving 40 km away from the operator.

The budget barrage munition has the same aerodynamic shape as the Lancet. The drone received two X-shaped wings. It is worth noting that both Russian UAVs are clones of a kamikaze drone manufactured by UVision from Israel.

Compared to Lancet-3, the new drone can carry 2 kg more payload. In addition, its speed in space is 10 km/h higher. The barrage time of the Scalpel is not disclosed.
