Russian self-propelled artillery system torn apart: Ukrainian FPV drone finds camouflaged enemy vehicles (video)
Using an FPV drone, the Ukrainian military successfully eliminated a Russian self-propelled artillery system 2C1 Gvozdika. The footage of the destruction was published on the Telegram channel of the Eskadron drone manufacturer.
The Russian occupiers hid their self-propelled artillery system among the trees in the plantation and covered it with a camouflage net. However, the pilot of the M2 group’s FPV drones still calculated the location of the enemy’s equipment and sent a kamikaze drone there. The drone successfully covered the distance from the launch site to the hidden armored vehicle and hit it in the stern.
A reconnaissance drone paired with an FPV drone filmed the aftermath of the attack for the operators. At first, the self-propelled artillery unit was engulfed in fire. And when the noise subsided, it became clear that the self-propelled artillery system had been torn apart: the turret was lying at some distance from the body.
“Another carnation was plucked during the preparation of the ‘funeral’ of the occupiers,” the creators of the drones captioned the published video footage.
What is known about the destroyed UAV
The Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer was a Soviet self-propelled howitzer produced from 1969 to 1991. In total, more than 10,000 units of the air defense system were produced. It has a 122-mm rifled cannon. The range is up to 15.2 km with a rate of fire of up to 5 rounds per minute.
The equipment is designed to suppress and destroy manpower, artillery and mortar batteries, as well as to destroy pillboxes, provide passages in minefields and field barriers.
It should be noted that according to the Oryx project, in August 2023 alone, the Ukrainian military managed to destroy 4 Hvozdika artillery systems belonging to the enemy. And in September, the Russian Federation lost another unit of this self-propelled artillery system.
