Russian troops launch massive attack on Ukraine with Shaheds, Daggers and Iskanders, Ukrainian Armed Forces destroy 92 air targets

The Air Force’s anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups and electronic warfare systems managed to destroy 55 attack drones, 35 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles and 2 X-59 guided missiles.

On the night of March 22, the Russian occupiers launched a combined missile and air strike against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. In total, the enemy used 151 aircraft. This was announced by the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk.

According to Oleshchuk, the enemy used 63 Shahed-136/131 type attack drones. The area of UAV launches is Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russia.

In addition, the Air Force commander adds, the enemy also attacked Ukrainian cities with various types of missiles. We are talking about:

  • 12 Iskander-M ballistic missiles. The area of the launches is the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation and the temporarily occupied Crimea;
  • 40 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles from thirteen Tu-95MS strategic bombers. The launch area is the Caspian Sea;
  • 5 X-22 cruise missiles from five Tu-22M3 bombers. The launch area is the Rostov region of the Russian Federation;
  • 7 X-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles out of ten MiG-31Ks. The launch area is the Tambov region of the Russian Federation;
  • 2 X-59 guided missiles from two Su-30 (Su-34). The launch area is a temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region;
  • 22 S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles. The launch area is the Belgorod and Kursk regions of Russia;

The Air Force noted that anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force and Ground Forces, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare equipment of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved in repelling the missile attack.

Air defense destroyed 92 air targets

As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 92 air targets were destroyed.

  • 55 attack UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type;
  • 35 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles;
  • 2 X-59 guided missiles.

As a reminder, on the morning of March 22, the Russian military launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine. The explosions occurred in a number of peaceful towns, with damage and casualties reported.

Later, Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko said that the massive attack by the Russian Armed Forces on March 22 was the largest in recent times. He clarified that there have been hits and damage to generation facilities, transmission and distribution systems in various regions. The enemy attack also cut off one of the power lines that feeds ZNPP.
