The Russian Aerospace Forces shelled a residential area of Kherson with Grom-1 missiles, which were adopted in 2013.

In the published pictures of the remains of the missile, one can see their resemblance to the Grom-1 missile, due to the peculiarity of the curved tail rudders.

This is not the first time that this type of missile has been used since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The first unsuccessful use of the Grom-1 missile took place on March 12, 2023. Due to technical problems, the missile fell in the private sector of the temporarily occupied Donetsk.

It should be noted that this is the first time that the occupiers have used missiles of this type in the Kherson sector. Prior to that, the remains of missiles were found in Donetsk and Kharkiv region.

The Grom-1 aircraft missile was developed for use with the new Su-57 fighter jets, but was also integrated into the weapon system of Su-34, Su-35, and Su-30 aircraft.

The 594-kg missile is capable of covering distances of up to 120 km and is equipped with an inertial guidance system as well as a satellite system. This makes it possible to use the missile against stationary fixed targets, using previously downloaded coordinates.

The missile is equipped with a rocket engine. The warhead weighs 315 kg.
