Ryanair will open a base in Odesa when the airspace in Ukraine is recognized as safe.
This was announced by the airline’s CEO Michael O’Leary in an interview with Simple Flying.
Michael O’Leary said that before the full-scale invasion, the company carried two million passengers in Ukraine. Now the company wants to return to Ukraine as soon as possible.
“We could return to Ukraine within a few days. Of course, immediately with flights to our destination. We would work with bases in Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa. Kherson may not be available for us yet, but we would like to be active participants in the recovery of the Ukrainian economy,” the CEO said.
Earlier it became known that Ryanair is hiring Ukrainian staff to be ready to return to Ukraine after the war. The airline aims to return to Ukraine as soon as it is safe to do so.
