The German company Volkswagen has started selling a budget model – Virtus. The price starts at 16 thousand dollars, but it is not intended for the European market. Therefore, it is unlikely to appear in Ukraine.
Volkswagen Virtus is the successor of the well-known Polo Sedan in our country. The car has a capacious 521-liter trunk and a wide list of options. Virtus will be based on the scalable MQB-A0-IN architecture. In the near future, this platform will be used in all budget models of the Volkswagen concern.
Volkswagen Virtus is the successor of Polo Sedan, which was sold in Ukraine for a long time. The car has been produced since 2017, but until recently it was presented only on the American market. Now the model has been updated, and the geography of its sales has been significantly expanded. For this, additional production facilities were opened in India.
In the cabin of an inexpensive sedan, a digital instrument panel and ‘multimedia’ with a 10-inch screen appeared – but, as in the case of the Skoda Slavia, such a set is likely for the top version. The basic version received an analog ‘device’ and a seven-inch display of the media system.
The new sedan is powered by a 1.0-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 115 hp, connected to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Another engine is a 1.5-liter supercharged four-cylinder. Its output is 150 hp. A pair of such a motor is provided with a robotic gearbox with two clutches.
As for cost, a budget sedan based on the Polo will cost between $16,000 and $21,000.
