Salt will be mined in Transcarpathia: the found deposit should meet the needs of the entire country

The salt deposit will yield up to 150,000 tons of raw materials per month

In Transcarpathia, they are preparing to extract salt from the Bushtyn deposit, which can provide 100% of the country’s needs. This was announced by the head of Zakarpattia OVA Viktor Mykyta. The salt deposit will yield up to 150,000 tons of raw materials per month. After preliminary geological studies, a salt layer was discovered there, which starts from 35 to 500 m.

Engineering work has already begun on the construction of an access road, marking of drilling sites, arranging a place for workers, and modern equipment for deep industrial drilling has been purchased.

“According to experts, we will have the first mined salt in 6 months. The deposit will be able to provide 100% of Ukraine’s need for technical salt, which will be supplied for road maintenance in the winter period. Currently, the country’s need for technical salt is up to 450,000 tons per season,” – said Mykyta.

It will be recalled that on May 26, Russian troops launched a missile attack on Soledar, Donetsk region. As a result of the attack, the buildings of the “Artemsil” plant, which stopped working due to military operations, were destroyed. The shutdown of the enterprise caused an increase in the price of salt in Ukraine – it became more expensive than sugar for the first time.
