Samsung introduces its own model of generative AI called Samsung Gauss
Samsung presented its own model of generative artificial intelligence called Samsung Gauss at the Samsung AI Forum 2023 event held at the company’s research campus (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology) in Seoul, South Korea. The South Korean firm’s generative artificial intelligence model is named after the mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss, who developed the law of normal distribution (Gaussian law), which is considered the basis of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies.
Samsung Gauss is the company’s ultimate vision for generative artificial intelligence developed by Samsung Research. Currently, Samsung Gauss is used internally by employees, but it will soon be available to the general public through its upcoming products. Samsung Gauss includes the Samsung Gauss language, Samsung Gauss code, and Samsung Gauss images. Products based on these generative AI models may be released in the coming months, and it is expected that features based on these generative AI models may be available in the Galaxy S24 series, which is expected to be released in January 2024.
Samsung Gauss Language is a model that understands human speech and generates answers. It can increase productivity by helping with tasks such as composing emails, editing and summarizing documents, translating from different languages, and writing letters. In terms of products, it can also be used to manage devices more intelligently. It can run both on cloud servers and on endpoint devices (phones, tablets, and PCs).
Samsung Gauss Code is a model that specializes in programming languages. It has a code writing assistant called code.i that will be used internally at Samsung. It is used to develop software quickly and easily through an interactive interface. It supports code description and creation of test cases.
Samsung Gauss Image makes it easy to create and edit images. It can change the style of an image, convert low-resolution images to high-resolution images, and add elements to an existing image. Like Dall-E, it can also create new images with a small text description.
All of these generative artificial intelligence models developed by Samsung can run locally on a privacy protection device.
