Samsung prepares a surprise: AI features in Galaxy may become paid in two years

What it means for users

Samsung has confirmed that it is considering the possibility of introducing fees for some artificial intelligence features in Galaxy smartphones. For now, owners of the new Galaxy S24 are guaranteed free access to AI until the end of 2025.

T.M. Roh, president of Samsung’s mobile division, stated that the company has no specific plans for the period after 2025. However, the company sees different user needs for mobile AI.

According to Roe, some of them will be able to cover basic free features. If the user wants other “even more powerful features,” they can pay for them.

“Therefore, we will take all these factors into account when making decisions in the future,” said Samsung’s president.

Thus, Samsung can offer advanced paid AI features to Galaxy S26 and later owners. However, the current free features may also be available for a paid subscription.

Samsung will not be the only company to promote paid subscriptions for advanced AI features. This model is already used by companies such as OpenAI with the ChatGPT Plus service and Microsoft with the Copilot Pro subscription.
