Samsung’s fridge of the future integrated with AI: it will offer recipes depending on your stock
The four-door Flex refrigerator with the AI Family Hub+ system will be presented at CES next year. It can create recipes based on your dietary needs and available food supplies.
The Samsung smart fridge has an internal camera that can identify individual foods and, with the help of a separate app, suggest recipes based on your current inventory. Users can also broadcast their Galaxy smartphone screens to the 32-inch touchscreen display of the Family Hub system and watch videos on TikTok and YouTube.
According to The Verge, a similar model was already presented in 2023, but now it has been updated with additional features – so the refrigerator can connect to the Samsung Health profile via Family Hub and adapt recipes to the owner’s dietary needs.
The fridge still has some limitations (Samsung says its Vision AI feature can only identify up to 33 foods), so don’t expect it to recognize anything too exotic. Users can also manually enter expiration dates on the touchscreen, and the refrigerator will notify them when they are over.
Samsung sees this refrigerator as a central part of its other AI kitchen appliances (e.g., AI ovens) and the company’s broader ecosystem. Next year, the Anyplace hob model will also be available, which includes a slide-in stove. Both are equipped with seven-inch LCD screens that can be used to view recipes from the Samsung Food app while cooking.
