Samsung unveiled the world’s first transparent MicroLED display at CES 2024 (photos, video)

Samsung has unveiled the world’s first transparent MicroLED display during the First Look event at CES 2024. The company showed three such devices in different designs at once.

The two demonstration samples used tinted glass, which made it possible to ignore any potential objects behind the panels. Another option looked as transparent as ordinary glass, but had a frameless design.

Displaying content on transparent MicroLED panels looks almost like a hologram floating in the air. All the demonstration devices stood separately and were only about a centimeter thick, which further enhanced the illusion of a screen floating in the air. In addition, thanks to the high pixel density of MicroLED, the images looked incredibly sharp.

According to a Samsung representative, since transparent MicroLED displays have higher brightness compared to transparent OLED panels, they are also less affected by ambient light.
