Sony will combine PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now
Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said he would merge PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now in June. The service will be called PlayStation Plus and will be available by subscription in three versions.
The first level is PlayStation Plus Essential. With this subscription, users will receive two monthly games, exclusive discounts, cloud storage to save games. This access is reminiscent of an existing PlayStation Plus subscription.
The cost for users will not change – €59.99 per year for Europe and $59.99 per year for the United States.
The second level – PlayStation Plus Extra. Subscribers will receive a catalog of 400 games for PS4 and PS5, including blockbusters from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners. Such a subscription will cost $99.9 for the United States and €99.99 for Europe.
The third level is PlayStation Plus Premium, which includes all the benefits of Essential and Extra levels. An additional 340 games will be added, including PS3 via cloud streaming. A separate catalog of classic games will be available, available as streaming and downloads from the original generations of PlayStation, PS2 and PSP. Users will have access to cloud gaming for the original PlayStation, PS2, PSP and PS4 games, and you can play with PS4 and PS5 consoles, as well as PCs.
As a bonus, time-limited trial versions of games will be offered so that customers can try selected games before purchasing.
The cost of such a package is $119.99 per year for the United States and €119.99 per year for Europe.
In markets where there is no cloud streaming, PlayStation Plus Deluxe is introduced at a lower price. Customers will be offered a catalog of classic games for PlayStation, PS2 and PSP. Prices depend on the market.
The new integrated PlayStation Plus service will launch Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel Spider-Man, Marvel Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 and Returnal. Several markets in Asia will be the first to receive the service, followed by North America, Europe, and the rest of the world. An entirely new service will be introduced by the end of the first half of 2022.
