South Korea and the United Kingdom to hold the second global summit on AI control
This week, South Korea and the United Kingdom will jointly host the second global summit on artificial intelligence in Seoul, according to Reuters.
Details of the summit
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and South Korean President Yun Suk-yeol will take part in a virtual summit on Tuesday. The event is held against the backdrop of growing calls for stricter regulation of artificial intelligence, given the significant disagreement over its impact on humanity.
In a joint statement published in the South Korean newspaper JoongAng Ilbo, Sunak and Yoon said: “Only global AI standards can prevent unwanted races.”
Initially, the summit was planned as an event on artificial intelligence security, but later its topics were expanded to three key areas: security, innovation, and social engagement.
Last year’s “November Summit” in the UK has already brought together leading industry experts, including Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. In addition, China has joined the Bletchley Declaration along with the United States and other countries to jointly address issues related to artificial intelligence.
