South Korea develops Hyunmoo-V missile with a range of over 3,000 km

Last week, the South Korean president arrived in the Ukrainian capital for an unannounced visit. This week it became known that Hanwha Aerospace, a company operating in the South Korean market, has completed the development of a new ballistic missile.

According to Naval News, the Hyunmoo-V missile can hit targets at a range of more than 3,000 km. The ballistics series will be launched at the end of the year. The company’s production facilities allow it to produce 70 missiles annually. The South Korean army plans to order at least 200 new missile weapons.

It should be noted that the missile can cover a distance of 3,000 km with a light warhead. If a heavy warhead is installed on it, the range will be reduced to 300 km. The weight of both warheads is kept secret.

Hyunmoo-V uses cold start technology. Simply put, a ballistic missile’s engine starts after it has left the launcher.
