SpaceX has released a new Starlink terminal – now without a motor and with a wider field of view

SpaceX has released the third generation of the Starlink terminal (base station). It became lighter and thinner, and lost the motor for adjusting the location, instead of a stand. For now, the new product will be available only to a “small group of customers in the United States”

The field of view of the device has increased by 10%. Another improvement is the increased rating of protection against dust and moisture, now it is a full IP67, instead of IP54. In theory, it can be immersed in water up to 1 meter deep for half an hour.

In the Starlink installation video, SpaceX recommends determining the position of the nearest satellite using a smartphone and manually placing the terminal using a stand based on this information.

The system consists of three components: the terminal itself, a special WI-FI-6 router, and a power supply.
