Ukraine has received two frontline evacuation ambulances based on the Pegaso 3560 BMR main wheeled armored fighting vehicle.

This was said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, EU and Cooperation of Spain, Jose Manuel Albares.

The machines were handed over to our country by Spain. The equipment is manufactured at Santa Barbara Sistemas. The machines are not new, but they were modified at a specialized enterprise. The APCs were already in operation, and then they were converted for medical purposes and transferred to Ukraine.

The Pegaso 3560 BMR has a 6×6 wheel configuration. The vehicles have been in service with the Spanish army for several decades and have proven themselves well. The choice of equipment was agreed with our military medics. That’s why we chose this model.

The weight of the machine is 15.4 tons. Armor of 10 mm on the sides and roof and 40 mm in front protects against small arms fire and fragments of artillery shells and mines. According to estimates, it is resistant to 7.62 mm caliber assault rifle fire, and the front will withstand fire from a heavy machine gun up to 14.5 mm.

The landing compartment can accommodate 11 people, but the redesigned version of the ambulance holds less. The exterior of the vehicle also received a new color scheme recognized on all continents of the planet for UN humanitarian vehicles with the Red Cross logo on the side.

The vehicle will be equipped with oxygen equipment, immobilization devices, cardiorespiratory monitors, a defibrillator, a cardiopulmonary resuscitation device, tires, collars, etc.
