Special codes have appeared on the iPhone 15 packaging that are visible only under UV light

On September 22, the sale of new iPhone 15 smartphones officially started around the world. And bloggers discovered another innovation that Apple did not mention either during or after the presentation.

These are new security measures that will help customers distinguish an original iPhone from a fake. Apple has updated the packaging of gadgets and added labels and QR codes that are visible only under ultraviolet light.

It is not yet clear whether these special marks will appear on the boxes of old models that remain on sale.

Obviously, fraudsters will eventually learn to copy these holograms as well, so we recommend that you check before you buy:

  • inspect the box and compare it to the original Apple packaging – either live (if available) or with photos, which are plentiful on the Internet;
  • check the serial number on the box;
  • open the box in the presence of the seller and check whether the data shown in the smartphone settings (for example, serial number and IMEI) matches what is printed on the box.
