Students from Vinnytsia region have developed a Lego brick that does not need to be fired in ovens

The Nemyriv Construction College in Vinnytsia Oblast has developed a Lego brick that does not need to be fired in ovens; it is made with sifted sand, cement, and a little water.

“The technology is simple. Anyone can build a Lego brick wall. The invention has received European certificates, and an American foundation has allocated money for equipment. Such bricks are needed to rebuild destroyed villages,” the college said in a statement.

The mixture consists of quarry sand, cement, plasticizer and water. The initiators worked on its development for three years and invented a unique structure, according to the initiators. So far, there has been no such type of building material on the European construction market.

“We presented our bricks to German investors at the All-Ukrainian Festival of Innovations. It was there that we convinced them of the project’s uniqueness, because the production of such bricks is fast, cheap and environmentally friendly,” said Ruslana Rybalko, a student.

An American foundation has also become interested in the project. It was this startup that won the Infrastructure and Construction nomination among 25 Ukrainians funded by the Americans. The company used the investors’ funds to purchase the necessary equipment for brick production.

In one hour, a 25-kilogram bag of cement can be used to make fifty bricks. The innovation is that they do not need to be fired and can be used in an hour.

The bricks have grooves that resemble a Lego set, which makes laying easier and faster.
